On January 8 I decided to go for a walk along the Louisville Swamp Trail. Since we have had such a warm winter not much snow was visible in the area.
The tree stumps would usually be inaccessible in the swamp, but the lake water and the swamp were frozen.
I hiked as far as the abandoned Jabs Farm site, and arrived when the sun was within one hour of setting. It was the golden hour for photography as can be seen in the photograph of the natural stone wall.
As I hiked back to the car I noticed some ducks in the water of an S-curve creek.
Almost back at the trail head I placed the silhouette of a single tree against the twilight of the sky. The tiny speck in the upper left is the planet Venus.
